As we step into 2025, we’re proud to reflect on a year that deepened our commitment to fostering a culture of belonging at FSP.
From impactful events to thoughtful initiatives, 2024 was a year where inclusion and connection truly came to life across our organisation. These efforts form a cornerstone of our ESG social strategy, which drives our dedication to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and included. Here’s a look back at some of the key moments and achievements that defined our journey.
Building Connections from Day One
We started the year with Reach Out Roulette, a simple yet powerful initiative encouraging colleagues to connect across teams, setting a collaborative and inclusive tone for the months ahead. This was followed by integrating Belonging at FSP sessions into our induction process, ensuring that new joiners immediately felt the importance we place on diversity and inclusion.
Celebrating Diversity Through Shared Experiences
Our approach to fostering belonging included spotlighting cultural and social milestones, such as:
- International Women’s Day. We hosted discussions featuring the inspiring women of FSP and partnered with neighbouring organisations to share insights, challenges, and triumphs.
- Eid celebrations brought colleagues together to explore the cultural significance of Ramadan, with shared treats adding a sense of community and learning.
- Pride in London saw us marching for LGBTQ+ inclusion for the second consecutive year, a vibrant demonstration of our commitment to advocacy and allyship.
Wellness and Wellbeing at the Heart
Mental and physical health remained central to our efforts. Wellness Week in May brought together colleagues from FSP and neighbouring businesses to promote wellbeing, building on April’s focus on Stress Awareness. Activities like walking meetings underscored the importance of balancing work with self-care.
Our Movember campaign focused on men’s mental health, featuring a moving talk by Colin Gourlay from Andy’s Man Club, which highlighted the importance of open conversations about male mental health and suicide prevention.
Expanding Belonging Through Focused Groups
September marked the launch of three inclusion groups focused on
- Gender Equity
- Ethnicity & Heritage, and
- Neuroinclusion.
These forums provided safe spaces for dialogue, data-driven insights, and plans for further action. Employee feedback and lived experiences played a key role in shaping each group’s direction, emphasising our collaborative approach to inclusion.
Rich Cultural Celebrations
October was a standout month. We celebrated Black History Month with a series of events, including a Caribbean lunch, a Michael Jordan watch party, and a powerful panel discussion on the theme Reclaiming Narratives. Diwali also brought warmth to our offices, with festive decorations, shared stories, and traditional treats.
Inspiring the Next Generation
At FSP, we know that belonging isn’t just about fostering a supportive culture internally – it’s also about engaging with the community and empowering the next generation. That’s why, in December, we had the pleasure of welcoming 15 Year 10 students from Reading Girls’ School to our Reading office. The visit gave students an inspiring introduction to the different career paths available within FSP and the tech industry.
In addition to showcasing the opportunities in our field, we encouraged the students to reflect on their own core values and how those values could guide them toward their future careers. By fostering this kind of self-awareness, we hope to help them feel confident in carving out their paths and finding a sense of belonging in their chosen fields.
Looking Ahead
2024 was a year of progress, but it was also a year of learning. Our activities reinforced the idea that belonging isn’t a destination—it’s an ongoing journey shaped by collective effort. As we move into 2025, we remain committed to listening, learning, and taking action to ensure FSP continues to be a place where everyone feels they belong.
